Eva Berendes works in the field of painting as an expanded field of production, sculpture and public art. Her artistic methods interrogate the constituents of image-making, putting their key attributes into new dialogues with those of architecture, urban infrastructure, and everyday objects.
The artist has exhibited widely in group and solo exhibitions at institutions and galleries in Europe, the US and Japan, such as Hara Museum, Tokyo (JP); CRG Gallery, New York City (USA); Daimler Art Collection, Berlin (D); Witte de With, Rotterdam (NL), Casado Santapau, Madrid (ES) and Jacky Strenz Galerie, Frankfurt/Main (D). She has collaborated on interdisciplinary projects with designers and choreographers and has realized architectural commissions in London and Berlin.
Eva Berendes studied at Akademie der Bildenden Künste, Munich, Hochschule der Künste Berlin (UdK) and completed a MA* Fine Art from Chelsea College of Art & Design London. She has since received numerous grants from funding bodies such as the DAAD, Stiftung Kunstfonds, Pollock-Krasner-Foundation and has most recently been awarded the Bonner Kunstpreis 2021. Her work is part of the Collection of Contemporary Art of the Federal Republic of Germany, Daimler Contemporary Art Collection, Collection of Deutsche Bundesbank and other public and private collections.
